About Obscura

Game of Thrones: It’s a fight to the death— Who will sit in the Iron Throne that is Obscura?

As Obscura progresses throughout the story, the roles in the relationships between the two pairs are defined. The one constant degree between the two couples is the role that Gemma plays. She is the Queen of Hearts and the Complex Muse (a female fixation). She is both abused and revered by the respective men that love and abhor her.

With Patrick, their relationship is comprised of sexual adulation for the image she projects on the screen. Her omnipresent image is always an illusion to him but he fights back with manipulations towards his female counterpart. The husband fights their role reversals head on to manipulate the wife into staying in a loveless marriage.

On the other hand, Easton and Gemma are far more compatible in both wits and sexual dynamism. They breathe fire and bond over their insatiable eroticism. But Easton’s new girl toy, Paloma Diamond, and Gemma’s husband, Patrick Quinn stand in the way.

Besides, Gemma’s desire to stay married kills any potential she sees with Easton. Alpi Klein, the powerful agent and fixer, is the Moderator in all this. His role shifts to however you want to see him. He’s your friend, your father, the Angel of Death, or the Devil himself. It’s a daunting task for a man who has seen it all but has compartmentalized himself in the different shades that fits their needs. He’s the voice of reason.

In some ways, the film is an American Gothic folk piece about the frailty of man and the separation between reality and the simulacrum it has created in its mind. Obscura focuses on the momentum of an enraptured suffocating love that fuses its ego upon the person, causing a rifting avalanche of emotions that sets of a chain reaction. The love is like a game of Russian roulette. The gun is the only thing between the lover on the ledge and the lost man toiling with the great escape plan.

Obscura’s moods and colors inhabit a subversive art culture where underground surrealism mixed with nouveau foreign art inspires the film’s look and feel.

Inspired by Andy Warhol, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Harmony Korine, Dario Argento, and James Turell, we want to take you into the world of darkness and the madness of hell, seen through the eyes of Gemma Valentine, the beautiful star who watches her world crumble beneath her worshiped feet.

As previously mentioned, our first plan of action is to team up with the best production company that fits the bill in terms of bordering a commercial art film that will be showcased at international film festival circuits. We are in search for the right company that will parlay the mastery of Neo-Italian Realism with Southern Gothic Americana.
